Live tracking and ETA

Guessing when the officer will arrive should not be the control room’s job.
What live tracking and ETA is. Live tracking puts the officer on the map for a live or upcoming job. ETA is the road time and distance to the site — a countdown while they are en route, and a live trail once they are on site.
What it is for. Its purpose is to show control where the officer is now, and how long until they reach the site, without a phone call. The map and the arrival time stay in one view.
See them on the map. With an officer assigned, the control room sees that person on the map. En route they get a countdown, the road arrival time, and the distance to the site. On site, the map keeps the live trail.
Use the same view before the job starts. A scheduled job that has not started yet still shows travel time and distance to the site. Control knows the run before book-on.
Ask for a fresh fix. If the phone has not sent a position for about a minute, control can request a fresh location. The request reaches the officer’s phone quietly.
Keep the board short. The same control view lists officers on a live job, with travel time beside them. Anyone who needs extra attention can also sit on the watchlist.
